More movement in everyday life

Park & Stride -  Elternhaltestelle

Fewer and fewer children are walking to school and kindergarten, instead parents take them by car. This increases traffic in front of the school and poses a danger to children. Everyday exercise, the acquisition of traffic skills and independence are being neglected.

The project aims to reduce the high volume of traffic in front of the school, the kindergarten and in the municipality and to make the routes to school or kindergarten safer. Therefore Park & Stride is set up at a certain distance from the school to encourage children's everyday movement.

The project, which was developed by the SPES Family Academy, has been implemented in over 70 municipalities since 2013. The Upper Austrian Family Department supports the monitoring and implementation of the project in Upper Austrian municipalities.
